iNils Reparatur Werkstatt

Nils Hügli

Chief Executive Officer

I am just a normal millennial kid, and like other millennial kids, we are proud of it. Until I was 13 years old, I couldn't really handle computers well, but that changed quickly: At my school, only Apple computers were used.

When I was told that there were new computers, I asked if I could have an old MacBook instead of it ending up in electronic waste. Of course, the old models were still in use, but there were two defective snow-white MacBooks, and I was told: If you can repair one, you can keep it. It’s no secret that I was able to repair it.

At the same time, that was the beginning of my interest in Apple and repairing; I was totally fascinated by how beautifully these devices were assembled.

During secondary school, I spent every Friday afternoon in the computer room as support, and as it slowly spread that I could repair Macs, some teachers came to me with their Macs for repairs and problems.

My woodworking teacher was totally enthusiastic and gave me a T-shirt with "iNils" at the end of secondary school; I still have that T-shirt, of course!

iNils was my nickname, or most of the time... it was everything from Mac Nils to Steve Jobs. Another secret: I never actually intended to open a private repair shop; I wanted to open an Apple museum. The repairs would have just needed to cover the rent. I guess I will have to postpone that dream for the time being.
